Old Business

Diocesan Recommendations – Most of the burden of recommendations falls on the principal and the finance committee.

Committee Reports

Teacher Rep – Faculty is concerned about school board retiring into executive session; discussion of budget to take place during regular meeting but the budget vote will take place in executive session; teacher rep felt that this had never been done before when concerning the budget and that perhaps it was somewhat “hokey”; she felt that perhaps the teachers wouldn’t be able to add to the discussion concerning the budget; information brought forward that the diocese recommends that the school board retire into executive session when there is discussion of upcoming budget; faculty and guests were encouraged to ask questions if they so desired during presentation of budget.

Finance – Handouts given; information brought forward that tuition and cost per student were calculated incorrectly; as a school board we need to look at what is our threshold when concerning increase of tuition; spent much time looking at income and expenses; recommendations made to remove from budget $15,000 in contingency fund and the extra $6000 yearly payment above the scheduled payment made to diocese; some discussion of children that had been enrolled but not parish approved; information brought forward that these families had the opportunity to follow the requirements established by the parish and those same families chose not to; the addition of said families added to the drop in enrollment for the upcoming school year; some additions to the budget included line items for a weekly cleaning service, funds for accelerated reader, restoring teacher sick days and hiring a playground supervisor.

Closing Prayer – John Ross
