Principal's Report
- There was discussion of creating a policy supporting the Fr. McGivney High School as the main secondary education for our students here at SJN. Althoff and Marquette would still be welcome to send pamphlets but no longer come in and visit. This would be put in place to show our support for the new school and to promote it at the same time. This topic will be put on the agenda for next month’s meeting for further discussion.
- Tony Blaes wants to open a Monday morning prayer group.
- The Magazine Drive brought in over $20,000. Lunch with the principal was a good time.
- The SJN Golf Classic also raised a net profit of $20,000.
- The Maryville Fire Department came in for a fire drill.
- On February 19,2009 Bishop Lucas will be here for mass.
- Our new PA system is half installed- just looking for a day to complete it.
- Marie Ademick visited our school again providing free hearing and vision screening.
- No school October 1st in honor of Columbus Day.
- Red Ribbon Week will run from Oct.20-24; more to follow in newsletter.
- The 5th grade will visit the Detention Home in Edwardsville on Oct. 22nd. A police officer will come here to speak to the 6th -8th grade classes about the Detention Home.
- Student council officers were elected and they will be meeting every other Monday after school. There are 4 representatives from each of the 5th - 8th grade classes. There are many good ideas being discussed.
- The Fall Vendor show will be held on Oct. 23rd.
- The 8th graders did attend the mission mass and sat in the front row.

Finance
- Steve shared the goals for the 2009 fiscal year. The balance sheet shows we are in good financial position. Scrip purchases and deposits will be off until the end of the first quarter. The decrease in tuition revenue is due to the decrease in enrollment and the decrease in expenses are due to the decrease in enrollment
Policy
- Still working on PDF conversion to WORD.
- The attendance policy has been placed on hold . It needs to be revisited and discussed.
- Hope to have policies completed by April.

Development
- The goals for the 08-09 school year are to meet and exceed goals for fundraising income; to create depth in volunteer efforts per fundraiser; to create a cohesive approach to all SJN fund-raisers.
- The new approach for the auction is to have the 3rd and 4th grade classes take responsibility for running the auction with the help of the rest of the school. A board recommendation was made that these classes would lead the committee and get volunteers from the whole school body. A vote was taken and we were all in agreement.
- The Spring Fling Committee is willing to stay on for this year. Looking at possibly holding it on Fri. & Sat.
Public Relations
- Simon presented us with the layout of the new brochure that is ready to be printed by the end of the first quarter. They are getting printing quotes. They will probably start with 2000 copies.
- There is talk of having two open houses, one the Sunday before CSW, and the second after the February cutoff registration deadline.
Planning Committee
- The goals for the 08-09 year : to exchange Activity & Planning calendars with Sts.
