Volunteer requirements
2010-2011 School Year
The following page outlines the parameters for the volunteer requirements for each family for the 2010-2011 school year.
Volunteer hours will be tracked through Fast-Driect on a calendar year basis. This year (2010), we will track hours from July-December with a 10 hour requirement. Thereafter, hours will be tracked from January-December with the full 20 hour requirements.
Each family is to sell a minimum of 20 raffle tickets at the Spring Fling.
Each family shall provide a minumum of 20 hours of volunteerism for the school year. (6) of these hours are to be dedicated to the Spring Fling.
The (14) general hours can be accomplished by providing hours of service that directly support SJN. The following list provides examples of activities that would qualify:
- Planning and/or participation in the SJN fundraisers listed below:
- Golf Tournament
- Magazine Drive
- Selling Scrip
- Spring Fling
- Auction
- Annual Fund
- Crazy Bowl
- Market Day
- Participation in Boards and Committees at SJN:
- Open House
- School Board & Committees
- Technology Committee
- Participation in supporting Faculty, Staff & Students at SJN:
- Recess Duty
- Lunch Duty
- Clean-up of School Grounds & Landscaping
- Class Parties
- Teacher's Aide
- Day Field Trips
- Library
- Support for Teachers (in classroom & at home)
- Accelerated Reader
- Participation in SJN activities at the parishes:
- SJN Donut Sunday
- Selling Scrip
- Leadership for the following SJN activities:
- Athletics
- Speech Meets
- Calling Post
- Red Ribbon Week Scouts (at SJN)
- Talent Show
- Faculty Lunch
- Girls on the run
- Campbell & Box Top Labels
- Book Fair **
- Christmas Bazaar **
- PTU *
- Trivia Night
- rummage Sale **

The (6) Spring Fling hours can be accomplished by providing hours of service that directly support the planning, preparation and working of the Spring Fling event. The volunteer hours can be provided by any adult family member, including extended family, and SJN 8th graders. The following list provides examples of activities that would qualify:
- Committee Leaders
- Committee Participants
- Working Kids Picnic
- Working Public Picnic
- Advertising - includes placing flyers in public areas/retail locations
- Set-up & Clean-up of event
- Selling Tickets/Wrist Bands/Raffle Tickets at Churches
Exclusions: Fundraising activities that suppor the Class Trips and Church volunteer requirements.
Volunteerism "Opt-Out" Option
A family can choose to Opt-Out of the Volunteerism requirements and pay a fee of $1,000.00 for the school year.
If a family is partially able to fullfill this commitment, then the fee will be determined on a pro-rated amount as follows:
- The raffle ticket fee will be for the face value of the unsold tickets.
- The unfulfilled hours will be billed at a rate of $45.00 hour.
